We are the Sandhill Sutton's. A young family that moved from Omaha, NE to Halsey, NE to open a convenient store. We are loving life in the Sandhills of Nebraska and want to share some of our experiences with you. This Blog is more of a passion project for me, Chad. We will share some of the funny stories of our time out here and share some of the growing pains as well.
When we first moved here, Becci needed to go get some groceries. It was a Sunday and she just wore some comfortable clothes and didn't bother to do her makeup to go to the store. Well, she thought she would just slip in and out quickly. That was not the case!! She ran into multiple friends and other locals that wanted to talk and get to know her. When she came home she was so embarrassed from not being dressed/ready to interact with the public and realized quickly that everyone knows everyone in these small towns. That's not always a bad thing at all. People look and stop to help if you are broke down and everyone is more than willing to help any time you're in need.
A couple weeks back there was a football game so Becci and I decided after work to go check out the new restaurant in Dunning. We walked in and were the only ones in there. We thought we would have a nice quiet evening to ourselves. Well, not long after, people started filing in. Not a big deal and a great thing for the restaurant, but we quickly realized that we can't really go anywhere without seeing someone we know. In all reality that is a great thing!! The only issue is that everyone asks "How's business at the Store?". Well, business is as good as it can be considering the recent fire and the Forest being shut down. My personal problem with them asking that question is that there is so much more to our lives than just the Store. We have passions, hobbies, and goals that have nothing to do with the Store. We only hope that the community of people that we serve on a daily basis realizes that there is much more that makes up The Sandhill Sutton's.
This Blog will help share some of those Passions, Hobbies and Goals. We look forward to sharing the positives and negatives of small town life from the perspective of The Sandhill Sutton's!
